I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I decided to read this omnibus because it was described as "Clerks meets Evil Dead 2." In that respect, these books do not disappoint. However, for me personally, they leaned a little heavily on lewd humor. These three books follow protagonist, nobody, and complete loser Lloyd Lamb Wallace as he tries to survive his new job working night shift at the 24/7 Dairy Mart; a convenience store with so many slushy flavors that anyone would get choice paralysis looking at them. The books are written in 3rd person, following Lloyd's perspective. This is unfortunate. He is easily the least interesting character in these books. He spends most of his time feeling sorry for him, and blaming everyone else for the things that have gone wrong in his life. He somehow manages to fail into the correct answer, or be in the right place to help save the world multiple times. I do believe there is an audience for these books, the writing isn't bad, the stories are relatively interesting and most of the characters are, if not likable, at least entertaining. I gave it three stars, because it doesn't align with my particular reading interests.

Songs of Bone by J.R. Snyder is a very well written book with a compelling story and interesting new interpretations of traditional folklore. It follows Sin Eater Asher Norwood and his companion Rane Moxley as they take on a dangerous contract. They meet with a 'saltmer', a salt-water mermaid, and are tasked with retrieving the bone harp from a ghost ship.

This book is honestly amazing. I would suggest it to anyone who enjoys fantasy, magic, and/or pirate stories.

Pattern [Make 2]:

R1 - FSC 23 stitches and join to the first stitch with a SS

R2 - Ch 3, then DC into each stitch around, join to the top of the ch 3 with a SS

R3 - Ch 3, DC in the same stitch, ch1, skip 1 stitch, DC in the next stitch, ch 1, skip 1 stitch, and v stitch into the next stitch. Repeat this pattern all the way around, and finish the row by doing a SS into the top of the of the Ch 3 at the beginning.

R4 - Crocodile stich [Crochet 5 DC around the Ch 3 from the row below, then make 5 DC around the next DC from the row below. SS into the top of the top of the single DC from the row below, repeat this all the way around. It should like the scales shown in the picture above] Finish the round with a SS into the top of the Ch 3. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until you need an opening for your thumbhole.

Thumbhole - Finish the last scale of your round, instead of doing a SS into the DC below, you will do 9 FSC stitches and SS into the middle of the first scale.

Continue making crocodile stitches, when you get to the FSC stitches, DC into the each stitch. Repeat this until you have as many rows of scales as you desire. I stopped making scales at my wrist.

From the wrist on - When you finish your last scale, SS into the beginning of the thumb hole. Ch 3 and make two more DC in the same space. Skip 3 stitches and make 3 DC in the next space. Repeat this all the way around the glove, putting your 3 DC in between the scales, and at the tops of scales.

For a medium length glove, make 7 of these rows.

When desired length is reached, SC into the top of each DC to make a nice finish. SS into the first stitch. Cut the yarn, and weave in ends.

I hope you like this pattern, and love your new half dragon gloves. If you don't crochet, then order a pair from my shop!
